LIFE : Birmingham

Birmingham Trip

1. Changing Room - Forever 21
A few things I tried on in F21, I did actually go in twice and I've now made it one of my favourite stores. Not a fan of it online, but omg it was amazing. I'm pretty happy that Manchester Trafford Centre has one for when I move up there!

2. New 15/16 Diary - Paperchase
(can't find online)
I love being organised and what's going on, so of course I love using a diary. I didn't want to spend loads on one, although there is one in WHSmiths that I absolutely adore (here). So I picked up this brown paper one instead. It's just what I was after and for £6 it didn't break the bank.

3. Changing Room Selfie - Forever 21
(apparently unavailable online so check in store - similar here)
My new purchase! Oh my gosh I'm over the moon with it. I'm not sure whether I've made it public that I'm a massive fan of stripes, but tbh who isn't?! I've been after a simple stripe dress for years, and this just ticked all the boxes. It'a knitted material so is suitable for all year round and at £14 I'm completely obsessed!

This is what I wore for my outing in Birmingham. At first I was bit sceptical of wearing it out as it's not something I'd normally wear, but I think some days it's okay to switch it up a bit! I don't think I particularly have a set 'style' I kind of just wear what I fancy on day. Sometimes I like this approach and other days I wish I could find what I really really like wearing. Anyone else the same?

Top - Lazy Oaf
Skirt - Vintage (1 / 2 / 3
Boots - Dr Martens (cherry red)

OUTFIT: Manchester buys

Cardigan : H&M
V neck : H&M (very similar)
Midi Skirt : River Island
Sandals : Sisters (similar 1 / 2 / 3)

Instead of just showing you the items I bought while in Manchester by folding them nicely on my floor or hanging them nicely on a wall, I thought I'd make it into a bit of an outfit post. Although I probably would't wear this outfit normally (it's a bit too formal for my liking) it was still nice to try something a little different.

The cardigan is a fine black knit and sits quite cropped which is what I was after. I have 3 long cardigans all grey and have been on the look for more knitwear. Probably the worst time for me to be looking to be honest.

The V neck is an absolute dream, its ribbed, business in the front, party in the back and so comfortable. I bought it in a size large, and at first I was a bit worried it would look too oversized, but I love it! I'm currently wearing it with my acid splattered jeans featured in my latest outfit posts and it feels really relaxed.

Lastly, the skirt... damn it's difficult to get on. Having a butt and thighs obviously weren't factors the River Island design team wanted to take into consideration, but damn it looks good on (if I do say so myself). I love the slight mesh and ribbed detail, adding a mix of texture to an otherwise plain outfit.

Overall how cool does the back of this outfit look, the layering of it all makes me pretty happy. Maybe I could walk round backwards the whole time?

LIFE: Manchester

Small collection of photos I took while me and my sister went to Manchester the other day. I was going to take a lot more but got too carried away with exploring and shopping.

Most of the photos are from Cow Manchester in the Northern Quarter which I completely recommend going to (or other Cow Vintage stores, if not check them out online here) There's so many cool shops and bars that are worth checking out; I can't wait to see more when I move in September.
The two outfit selfies featuring this amazing knitted jumper were taken in Urban Outfitters. I wish I'd got it but at the same time, I feel like sometimes I don't want to pay the prices? Anyone else with me on that? I also loved the grey midi, but it was still £30 in the sale and it was really sheer. :( So if anyone can lead me the way to some cool midi dresses or skirts, you'd be a star!

(I did video a few things through out the day in an attempt to upload onto youtube as kind of a vlog, but I kind of failed. So on my next exciting day out, I may give filming another go.)

OUTFIT: Bleach Jeans

'Are you ready?' Top - Zara
'Crappy Shopper' Tote - Lazy Oaf
Acid Splatter Jeans - Topshop (similar)
New Balance
Socks - Topshop // Belt - Charity (similar - ITS REVERSIBLE!?!!)

Behold my new favourite jeans! The depop gods answered my prayers yet again by helping me find these jeans after months of searching and at the fraction of the original price! I wore this the other day while going to pick my sister up from work and I really like the relaxed, casual vibe about it.

Also isn't my new Lazy Oaf tote brilliant?! Now I know it's not to everyones taste, but I love me a good tote and this just ticked all the boxes. I also ordered this top which was in the sale (also sported by Pixie Lott) and I think I may need to order this dress. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be considering ordering a dress like that but recently I've been inspired by trying new things, more colours, and being out of my comfort zone. Styles meant to be fun, right?

LIFE: Drawings

Bit of a different post today, but I thought I'd just share a few photos of my drawings and 'work area' aka my bed.
Top photos are Wes Anderson themed with The Grand Budapest Hotel's very own Zero and Agatha; I wanted to try draw the part when they're in the cake van looking at each other but side profiles ain't my thing. Then we have Margot Tenenbaum with her well known quote 'I think we're just gonna have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that.' Over the summer I aim to watch all the Wes Anderson films and draw them!

The rest are just made up images using fine liner and pro markers. There's also a few pages showing a 'scapbook' - my plan is to make a handmade book using pages I've decorated or filled with tickets (etc) of things I've done over the summer.

Anyone else enjoy drawing or have a cool style 'cause I'd love to see!

LIFE: Cardiff

(Lots of random photos of a day trip to Cardiff)

(Still trying to get used to html so bare with me on the spacing of the images!)

Last week my sister and I went to Cardiff for the day. We've both finished education for the summer so we're currently looking for jobs or staying inside with nothing to do (that's what happens when you live in the countryside), so we decided we needed a day out.

Cardiff was the settled destination as that's where I spent my first year of uni, so I know the city quite well now. With the recent summer sales hitting the high street we also knew a bit of retail therapy was in order. I only got a pair of topshop jeans which I'm currently deciding on how to style (Dree cropped narrow flare if anyone has any ideas!), while my sister got 3 t-shirts and a skirt!

Now I'm going to do nothing all day to prepare myself for work this evening.

p.s Can anyone recommend any places in the UK my sister and I can visit?
